iPod Touch Assembly
Before attempting any repair be sure to ground yourself with an ESD(electro static discharge) strap. This will prevent static electricity from damaging the electronic components within the phone.
Tools and Parts required:
New LCD/Glass screen
Pry Tools
Phillips Screw driver
Anti static strap
Completing LCD Installation:
- Fasten the LCD to the frame with the 16 Phillips screws that you removed
Installing the Main Board:
- Now the LCD is in place you can continue with the Main board
- Ensure the bottom part of the main board is flat as seen in the video
- Flatten the main board to ensure a proper fit during installation
- Place the bottom half of the main board into the frame into the opposite side of the home button
- Depress the board firmly to ensure it adheres to the contact cement
- Continue aligning the ribbon cables and secondary board
- Once the Secondary board is aligned attach the ribbon cable
- Using the screws you removed from the secondary board attach the board to the frame
Completing the Installation:
- Affix the yellow protective tape to the screws on the LCD
- Fasten the Main board with the 4 Phillips screws
- Connect the ribbon from the secondary board to the main board
- Apply the black tape to the connector on the main board that covers the 2 top screws
Attaching the Rear Cover:
- Double check all the ribbon cable connections to ensure they are fastened
- Ensure all the Phillips screws have been used and are in place
- You can now attach the rear cover
- Note: If the outer edges of the cover are bent slightly from the removal you can stand the rear cover on edge and gently press the edges in. By doing this the cover will fit tighter.
- Lay the cover bottom down
- Set the iPod touch into the cover ensuring it is oriented correctly
- Once aligned depress the body into the rear cover
- Complete the assembly by firmly depressing the edges until they all snap into place
- Once assembled you can turn your iPod Touch on and enjoy!
