Windows Vista Ready Boost
Microsoft Vista ReadyBoost
If you are disappointed with your computer's performance while running Windows Vista there is hope. There is a feature within Vista that will help your system run a little smoother and quicker.
It is called ReadyBoost. This is the least expensive way to gain performance from your computer running Windows Vista.
While using a computer it keeps information used to operate in memory (referred to as RAM), since there is a limit to the amount of memory in a computer the operating system writes this information to the Hard Drive for retrieval later, Since the hard drive is slow compared to the rest of the computer this slows the system down. Microsoft found a way to speed this information transfer up, they now put this information on a USB flash drive for speedy retrieval when needed.
It is super easy to enable, you simply insert the USB memory card into the USB slot of the computer running Windows Vista and once installed you will be prompted with--- Select Speed up my system.
Then select "Use this Device"
You can select how much space you want to make available for the ready boost cache. I recommend using a dedicated thumb drive for this and allocating the maximum capacity to enhance performance.
Now click OK and thats it.
